Dr. Nikhil Pai is an Associate Professor in the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology at McMaster Children’s Hospital. He has trained at McMaster School of Medicine, University of Toronto (Hospital for Sick Children), and completed his pediatric gastroenterology fellowship at Harvard Medical School (Boston Children's Hospital). Dr. Pai is the Medical Lead of the Complex Pediatric Nutrition Service and Intestinal Failure program at McMaster Children's Hospital. Dr. Pai's research focuses on the role of fecal microbiota transplant in pediatric inflammatory bowel disease. He is a co-Principal Investigator of an upcoming study on the use of fecal transplant for the treatment of small intestinal bacterial overgrowth in pediatric intestinal failure patients. Dr. Pai is an Associate Member of McMaster University's Farncombe Family Digestive Diseases Research Institute, and the Centre for Metabolism, Obesity and Diabetes Research (MODR).

Evolving Management of Pediatric Intestinal Failure

In this presentation, we will discuss the clinical presentation and management of intestinal failure in children. Objectives will include: 1. Unique considerations for management of intestinal failure in the pediatric patient 2. The role of GLP-2 agonists in the management of pediatric short-gut patients 3. Early life predictors of outcome in intestinal failure patients
